Musky

In perfumery, the term musky refers to an olfactory family of base notes characterized by high substantivity, low volatility, and marked skin affinity, broadly inspired by the historical sensory profile of natural musk. Musky fragrances, distinguished by soft notes with a slightly “animalic” nuance, represent a fundamental structural axis of modern perfumery and are now composed exclusively of synthetic musks (nitro musks, polycyclic musks, macrocyclic musks), selected according to performance, olfactory versatility, and regulatory compliance criteria.
