Description

Rose hydrolate (Rosa damascena flower water), commonly known as "rose water," is the residual water from the steam distillation of the petals of the Damask rose (which yields the essential oil, a notoriously valuable product). In addition to water (the main component), the hydrolate contains a complex blend of water-soluble compounds, including terpene alcohols (citronellol, nerol, linalool), phenylethyl alcohol, flavonoids, and phenolic acids, active ingredients that give rose water its (mild) soothing properties.

Uses

Thanks to its soothing and refreshing effect, rose hydrolate is primarily used in cosmetics, particularly in the production of facial toners, moisturizers, lotions, and post-hair removal products. It is also frequently used in nutraceuticals and phytotherapy as an ingredient in plant-based preparations designed to promote relaxation and skin well-being.
