Extraction
Sweet orange essential oil is obtained by cold pressing the fresh peel and appears as a clear, dark orange liquid with a sweet, fresh, fruity scent.
Property
Sweet Orange essential oil, non-toxic and non-irritating, is a true natural antidepressant that also has anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, bactericidal, fungicidal, and tonic properties. It harmonizes well with the essential oils of Cinnamon, Clove, Lavender, Lemon, Neroli, Nutmeg, Clary Sage, and Myrrh absolute.
Uses
Also excellent for treating dull and/or oily skin, it should be used in moderation due to its phototoxicity. It is used in the beverage industry as a flavoring agent and as a fragrance component in detergents, cosmetics, and perfumes (men's fragrances). Botany
Native to China, the orange tree has adapted well to the climate of the Mediterranean region (where it is widely cultivated) as well as in the United States. Also known as the "Portuguese orange", it is a small evergreen tree, smaller and less hardy than the bitter variety, with a smooth trunk and branches, oval, glossy dark green leaves, long thorns, and fragrant white flowers. The edible fruit has sweet flesh and non-bitter membranes.
