Botany

Also known as "Spruce", the Norway spruce is a majestic conifer, up to sixty meters tall. It has a narrow, conical crown, pointed needle-like leaves, cylindrical cones facing downward, and a characteristic thin, reddish bark. It is found in the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines (near the Abetone Pass) and grows wild throughout almost the entire Italian Alpine range, as well as in some Alpine districts of Germany. It is no longer found in Austria.
