Extraction

Savory essential oil is obtained by steam distillation of the whole plant. It appears as a nearly colorless liquid with a pungent, herbaceous, medicinal odor.

Property

Savory essential oil has vermifuge and fungicidal properties, but is also toxic and irritating, so much so that it is considered dangerous. Therefore, it should never be used as is for aromatherapy purposes, either internally or externally.
A bactericidal and antiseptic far superior to any other essential oil, it should be handled in minimal doses and with caution.
It blends well with citrus oils as well as lavender, pine, and rosemary essential oils, as well as oakmoss absolute.

Uses

Savory essential oil is very rarely used in perfumery. It is more commonly used as a flavoring for condiments.
