Extraction

Moroccan chamomile essential oil is obtained by steam distillation of the flower tops and appears as a clear yellow-brown liquid with a sweet, fresh, herbaceous-balsamic scent that is decidedly different from that released by the essential oils of matricaria chamomile and Roman chamomile.

Property

While the aromatherapeutic properties of Moroccan chamomile essential oil are well-known as a migraine remedy, little is known about its actual therapeutic properties and/or its traditional applications. It is, however, sedative and generally non-toxic and non-irritating.
It blends well with the essential oils of amyris, mugwort, cedar, cypress, cistus, frankincense, lavender, and vetiver, as well as oakmoss absolute.

Uses

Moroccan chamomile essential oil is widely used in perfumery, especially in the production of colognes and powdery fragrances.
The relevant technical and safety documentation for the product is available upon request.

Botany

Native to northwest Africa and Andalusia, Moroccan chamomile now grows wild throughout the Mediterranean, even as far away as Israel.
It's a beautiful plant, up to four feet tall, with tomentose leaves and yellow tubular flowers.
