Extraction

Marjoram essential oil is obtained by steam distillation of the dried flowering plant. It appears as an amber-yellow liquid with a warm, woody, spicy, and slightly camphorated scent.

Property

Marjoram essential oil, completely non-toxic and non-irritating, has proven vasodilatory, aphrodisiac, and analgesic properties.
In the past, it was used as an acaricide as well as a remedy for insomnia and headaches.
It blends well with the essential oils of chamomile, cedar, cypress, bergamot, eucalyptus, lavender, ravensara, rosemary, and tea tree.

Uses

The practical uses of marjoram essential oil are quite similar to those of oregano oil: as a fragrance component in soaps, colognes, and perfumes (especially in men's fragrances), as well as a flavoring in the food industry.
The relevant technical and safety documentation for the product is available upon request.

Botany

Native to the Mediterranean region (especially North Africa), marjoram is a delicate, bushy herbaceous plant that grows up to seventy centimeters tall, with hairy, oval, dark green leaves and grayish-white flowers. The entire plant is highly aromatic.
