Extraction
Laurel essential oil is obtained by steam distillation of the dried leaves and sprigs. It is a greenish liquid with a powerful balsamic, medicinal, and spicy aroma.
Property
Known for crowning the heads of victors in ancient Rome and Greece, laurel has long been used in culinary preparations throughout Europe. Its berries were once used to combat loss of appetite and as an antipyretic. Today, the plant's medicinal use is very limited, as its marked narcotic properties are now well known. Noble laurel essential oil has antiseptic, balsamic, bactericidal, parasiticide, fungicidal, and sedative properties. It blends well with the essential oils of cypress, cistus, juniper, frankincense, pine, and ravensara, as well as with citrus oils and spice oils.
Uses

Botany
Also known as "Roman laurel", laurel grows in many regions of the world despite being native to the Mediterranean basin. It is cultivated in France, Spain, Italy, Turkey, and Russia. It is an evergreen tree up to twenty meters tall, with an erect trunk, black berries, and fragrant, dark green leaves that are glossy on the upper surface.
