Extraction

Garlic essential oil is obtained by steam distillation of fresh garlic bulbs.
It appears as a yellow liquid with a powerful and penetrating sulfurous odor, pungent and olfactively repellent.

Property

Garlic essential oil is non-toxic and non-irritating and has antiseptic, antibacterial, antitumor, fungicidal, insecticidal, larvicidal, and purifying properties. Given its unique olfactory characteristics, although completely harmless, it must be handled with care and in controlled quantities.
It does not harmonize with any other essential oil, and is probably the natural plant-based product with the most powerful, fetid odor known.

Uses

Garlic essential oil is used in pharmaceuticals (formulating products for hypertension), in agriculture (as a fertilizer ingredient), and in the food industry as a flavoring for appetizers and spicy foods.
The relevant technical and safety documentation for the product is available upon request.

Botany

Garlic is a highly aromatic, bulbous perennial plant that grows up to four feet tall. It has long, membranous leaves and stems bearing clusters of whitish flowers.
Native to Siberia, it is cultivated worldwide. The largest producers are Egypt, Bulgaria, France, China, Germany, and Japan.
