Lavender essential oil, completely non-toxic and non-irritating, has proven analgesic, antidepressant, antimicrobial (disinfectant), antiseptic, insecticidal, antiparasitic, parasiticide, deodorant, and stimulant properties.
Excellent for combating skin blemishes and soothing the effects of insect bites, it is also indicated for treating bruises, dermatitis, and sores.
It blends well with most essential oils, but particularly with those of Cedar, Clove, Cistus, African Geranium, Patchouli, Clary Sage, Sandalwood, and Vetiver, as well as with citrus oils, floral oils, and oakmoss absolute.

Uses

I am well aware of the widespread use of natural lavender essential oil in cosmetics and pharmaceuticals (preparation of ointments, etc.). It is also widely used as a fragrance component in all types of soaps, lotions, aftershaves, detergents, perfumes, foods, and alcoholic beverages.

Botany

Native to the Mediterranean region, lavender is now cultivated throughout the world. It is a woody perennial shrub up to one meter tall, highly resistant to climate change. It has very narrow, linear, downy, light green leaves, shallow roots, and blue-violet flowers clustered in spikes at the apex of the stems. It grows at altitudes up to 1,500 meters. The entire plant is extremely aromatic. The most valuable essence is extracted from "Lavandula angustifolia."
