Basil essential oil is obtained by steam distillation of the entire fresh flowering plant. It is a greenish liquid with a sweet, fresh, herbaceous scent with a spicy undertone.
Property
Basil essential oil, relatively non-toxic, has antidepressant, antiseptic, carminative, tonic, and expectorant properties. It blends well with the essential oils of bergamot, bucco, citronella, geranium, hyssop, litsea cubeba, clary sage, and oakmoss absolute.

Botany
