Extraction
The rose essential oil that inspires our fine perfumery fragrance is obtained by steam distillation of fresh rose petals. It appears as a clear, olive-yellow liquid with a typical rosy scent—very rich, sweet, floral, and intense, with a spicy undertone. It blends well with virtually all other essential oils due to its ability to smooth out top notes, but it delivers truly excellent results when blended with those of agarwood, bergamot, matricaria chamomile, clove, geranium, lavender, neroli, palmarosa, patchouli, black pepper, clary sage, sandalwood, and benzoin absolute.
Uses
A precious composition, the Turkish Rose fragrance finds wide use in high-end perfumery as well as in cosmetics and high-end soaps.
Botany
Thought to be native to Persia, the rose is currently cultivated in Morocco, Tunisia, Bulgaria, Russia, Iran, Italy, France, India, and China. It is a small, thorny shrub up to two and a half meters tall, with light-colored, serrated leaves and beautiful, fragrant pink (or purple) flowers with thirty-six petals. There are over 150 species.
