Description

A woody fragrance from high-end perfumery containing natural Mysore Sandalwood essential oil (a product we also have ).

Our exclusive 13.5 ml (0.46 fl. oz.) bottle made of special transparent neutral glass enhances the chromatic properties of the various oils: each is visible in its natural color, as unique as the scent it releases.
Each bottle is equipped with a special heat-shrinkable transparent polymer seal to guarantee (in compliance with regulations) its tamper-proof nature.

Extraction

Natural Sandalwood essential oil (part of which is included in our composition) is obtained by steam distillation of dried and powdered wood; it appears as a pale yellow, viscous liquid with a woody, sweet, and very persistent scent. It blends well with woody notes such as Black Ebony or Balsam Oud, with Benzoin absolute, as well as the essential oils of Agarwood, Ambrette, Cypress, Copaiba, Juniper, Lavender, Opoponax, Palmarosa, Patchouli, Rose, Clary Sage, Ylang-ylang, Vetiver, and Ginger.

Property

Sandalwood, boasting at least four thousand years of documented and uninterrupted use, is one of the oldest materials used in perfumery.
In the East, it has been used for centuries both as incense and as an embalming material.
A classic remedy in both Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine, sandalwood oil, combined with rose oil, is the basic ingredient in the famous perfume "Aytar".
The natural essential oil of sandalwood (present in our fragrance) has aphrodisiac, antidepressant, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, and bactericidal properties. It is an excellent rehydrator and also has a positive effect on acne-prone skin.

Uses

Similar to natural essential oil, our Sandalwood essence is used both as a fragrance component and as a fixative in cosmetics and perfumery (especially in the composition of fine oriental-woody notes).

Botany

Native to tropical Asia (especially southern India, Sri Lanka, and Malaysia), sandalwood is a small, evergreen parasitic tree that grows up to nine meters tall. It has a gray-brown trunk, smooth, thin branches, leathery leaves, and pinkish-purple flowers. However, plants are not suitable for essential oil production until they reach thirty years of age. It is currently a protected botanical species.
