Extraction

Rosemary essential oil is obtained by steam distillation of the fresh flowering tops. It is a colorless or yellowish liquid with a powerful, fresh, herbaceous scent with a balsamic-woody undertone that blends well with the essential oils of basil, cinnamon, cedar, lemongrass, elemi, cistus, frankincense, lavender, peppermint, oregano, petitgrain, pine, thyme, and spice oils.

Property

Rosemary is a plant with the oldest and most extensive traditions of use: as a culinary condiment, a fumigating herb, a magical material, and a medicinal remedy.
Rosemary essential oil possesses undisputed analgesic, antimicrobial, antiseptic, healing, parasiticide, and tonic properties. A scalp stimulant, it is an excellent remedy for acne and seborrhea.

Uses

Rosemary essential oil is widely used in cosmetics, soaps, detergents, and perfumes (especially colognes).
The food industry uses it for its natural antioxidant properties.

Botany

Also known as "Ramerino", rosemary is native to the Mediterranean basin. It is a bushy evergreen shrub up to two meters tall with silvery-green needle-like leaves and blue flowers. The entire plant is intensely aromatic. It is currently cultivated throughout the world.
