Description

Stabilized natural essential oil.
PS : Product also available as a pure essential oil.

Our exclusive 13.5 ml (0.46 fl. oz.) bottle in special transparent neutral glass enhances the chromatic properties of the various oils: each is visible in its natural color, completely unique like the scent it releases. Each bottle is equipped with a special heat-shrinkable transparent polymer seal to guarantee (in compliance with regulations) its tamper-proof nature.

Extraction

Extracted by steam distillation of the leaves and twigs, Myrtle essential oil is a dark orange liquid with a fresh, sweet, herbaceous scent and a balsamic, camphorated undertone. It blends beautifully with the essential oils of Bergamot, Clove, Hyssop, Laurel, Lavender, Litsea Cubeba, Lemon Balm, Ravensara, Rosemary, and Ginger.

Property

Myrtle leaves and flowers were the main ingredients in the preparation of the so-called "Angel Water", a cosmetic lotion popular in the 16th century.
Mildly sedative, myrtle essential oil has balsamic and antiseptic properties. It is also excellent for counteracting oily skin.

Uses

Myrtle essential oil is commonly used in the production of colognes and toilet waters. Less frequently, it is used (pure) by the food industry in the production of condiments.

Botany

Also known as "Corsica pepper" or "Mortella," myrtle grows wild throughout the Mediterranean region.
It is a small evergreen shrub native to North Africa with thick, sturdy branches, sharp, bright green leathery leaves, and pinkish-white flowers. Its leaves and flowers are very fragrant.
