Description

Our Mimosa Flower Essence is a long-lasting, high-perfumery fragrance characterized by an enchanting velvety-floral note. Its scent is certainly more intriguing than that of natural absolute (the latter being difficult to find and very expensive).

Our exclusive 13.5 ml (0.46 fl. oz.) bottle made of special transparent neutral glass enhances the chromatic properties of the various oils: each is visible in its natural color, as unique as the scent it releases. Each bottle is equipped with a special heat-shrinkable transparent polymer seal to guarantee (in accordance with regulations) its tamper-proof nature.

Extraction

Natural mimosa essence (also present in our composition) is an absolute obtained by distilling the solid, wax-like mass extracted with a solvent from fresh flowers (concrete essence). It appears as a viscous amber-colored liquid with a woody-floral scent with a herbaceous undertone. It blends well with floral and spicy oils in general, particularly with the essential oils of lemongrass, lavender, lemon balm, patchouli, violet, and ylang-ylang.

Property

Rarity and extremely low yield make mimosa absolute a notoriously valuable raw material. Completely non-toxic, it has antiseptic and astringent properties. Acting as a natural stabilizer, this essence was once widely used in soap making. However, it remains a very expensive material and is not very usable as is by any means by the end consumer, as it, in addition to having a viscous, semi-solid consistency, also tends to quickly go rancid. For all this, we have formulated our mimosa flower composition (also containing a fraction of natural absolute): a fragrance with a warm, persistent floral note that closely replicates (and more so than the absolute itself) the evanescent scent of the flowers that bloom on the plant's branches in late winter.

Uses

It is used in the composition of oriental notes intended for high-class perfumery (floral and oriental colognes) and cosmetics and, sporadically, also in refined soap making.

Botany

Native to Tasmania, Mimosa has become naturalized in Central and North Africa. In the 19th century, it was introduced to Europe as an ornamental plant; today, it grows wild.
It is a graceful small tree reaching twelve meters tall, with delicate silvery-green foliage, smooth, pale bark, and clusters of fragrant, spherical yellow flowers.
There are numerous varieties of Mimosa, and from almost all of them, the tannin contained in the bark is extracted, an antibacterial and antifungal substance used in pharmacy.
