Description

High-end perfumery fragrance containing natural essential oil.
PS: Product also available as a pure essential oil.
Our Melissa fragrance is a precious high-end perfumery composition created with the aim of providing an olfactory sensation very similar to that elicited by the fresh and powerful scent of the very expensive natural essential oil.

Our exclusive 13.5 ml (0.46 fl. oz.) bottle in special transparent neutral glass enhances the chromatic properties of the various oils: each is visible in its natural color, completely unique like the scent it releases. Each bottle is equipped with a special heat-shrinkable transparent polymer seal to guarantee (in compliance with regulations) its tamper-proof nature.

Extraction

Natural lemon balm essential oil (not this fragrance) is extracted by steam distillation of the leaves and flowering tops; it is a clear yellow liquid that releases a fresh, citrusy fragrance. It blends beautifully with all citrus oils (particularly neroli and grapefruit) as well as lavender, geranium, ravensara, and verbena essential oils.

Property

Lemon balm was one of the first herbs to be used medicinally, particularly for anxiety and depression, but also as a sedative and digestive aid. It is no coincidence that Paracelsus, the celebrated Swiss Renaissance physician, called lemon balm the "Elixir of Life". Lemon balm's precious essential oil, completely non-toxic, is a proven remedy for countering allergic reactions and soothing the effects of insect bites. In low concentrations (dissolved, for example, in almond or sesame oil), this natural distillate is truly valuable in treating eczema and other skin conditions; in addition to being an effective insect repellent, this essential oil has antidepressant, bactericidal, and parasiticide properties.

Uses

Our thematic Melissa fragrance is used in perfumery, cosmetics and soap making.

Botany

Native to the Mediterranean region, lemon balm is now widespread throughout Europe, Central Asia, Siberia, and North America. Known by various names (such as "citron balm", "bergamot balm", "citron herb", " lemon balm, " "citron lemon balm", etc.), it is a delicate, bushy herb over sixty centimeters tall with a seductive scent. It bears serrated, glossy green leaves and tiny white or pink flowers. Various subspecies grow, always in cool, shady locations.
