Description
Our Iris essence is a tenacious high-perfumery fragrance characterized by an enchanting woody-floral note. Its scent recalls the unparalleled aroma released by authentic absolute (a product that is difficult to find and truly exorbitantly expensive).
Our exclusive 13.5 ml (0.46 fl. oz.) bottle made of special transparent neutral glass enhances the chromatic properties of the various oils: each is visible in its natural color, completely unique like the scent it releases.
Each bottle is equipped with a special transparent heat-shrink polymer seal to guarantee (in compliance with regulations) its tamper-proof nature.

Extraction
The natural essence of Iris (not this thematic fragrance) is an absolute oil obtained by steam distillation of the powder obtained from peeled and dried rhizomes. At room temperature, it solidifies, appearing as a cream-colored paste with a rich, woody, floral scent (reminiscent of violet) and a fruity undertone. It blends beautifully when dissolved in oils of Bergamot, Cedar, Cypress, Cistus, Copaiba, Elemi, Clary Sage, Sandalwood, Rose, Vetiver, and Violet.
Property
In ancient Greece and Rome, the orris rhizome was widely used in perfumery.
Various pharmacopoeias of the past—starting with the Cilician Dioscorides Pedanius—prescribed the use of the root (prepared in various ways) to treat ailments such as coughs, bronchitis, and headaches, and even to make tonic drinks. The natural absolute, rare and enormously expensive, is not easily available as is; for this reason, it is almost always destined to be processed by "experts."

Uses
Both natural Iris absolute and our composition are used as a fragrance component in the formulation of floral notes intended for high-class perfumery as well as as fixatives in aromatic formulations reserved for luxury cosmetics.
Botany
Also known as the "heavenly lily", the iris is a perennial plant growing up to one and a half meters tall, native to the eastern Mediterranean.
It features sword-shaped leaves, a fleshy rhizome, and delicate, intensely scented blue flowers. Most irises originate in the Italian peninsula, where they grow wild.
