Extraction
Affinity
Property
Non-toxic and non-irritating, Ethiopian Frankincense essential oil is a truly rare aromatic raw material, as collecting the resin from which it is obtained requires venturing into extremely arid and inaccessible regions. It has anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, sedative, and even healing properties; it is also recommended for combating skin dryness, wrinkles, and scars.
Uses
Botany
Frankincense (or simply "frankincense") is native to the regions bordering the Red Sea. It is a graceful small tree that grows wild throughout northeastern Africa. It features rich foliage and pinkish-white flowers. Ethiopian Frankincense is a variety endemic to the Ogaden, the desert plateaus of southern Ethiopia, where Homo sapiens first emerged. Its brown, sugary resin has been collected for millennia for use both as a fuel for aromatic fumigations and as a fragrant material itself.
