Description

100% pure and concentrated essential oil of natural origin in an 11.3 ml (0.34 fl. oz.) glass bottle ; this product is completely free from: stabilizers, fixatives, pesticides, GMOs and treatments (even of semi-finished products) with gamma rays and has been packaged and sealed as it came, i.e., without having undergone any transformation and/or alteration of any kind and in the most diligent observance of all laboratory precautions. In accordance with EC Regulation 1334/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council of the European Union, provided they are highly pure, many essential oils (including basil) are declared "food flavourings" and can therefore be taken as supplements.

Extraction

Basil essential oil is obtained by steam distillation of the entire fresh flowering plant. It is a greenish liquid with a sweet, fresh, herbaceous scent with a spicy undertone.

Affinity

Basil essential oil harmonizes well with the essential oils of: Bergamot, Bucco, Citronella, Geranium, Hyssop, Litsea cubeba, Clary sage as well as with oakmoss absolute.

Property

Basil is a well-known "refreshing herb" popularly used in both Italian and French cuisines, as well as in Asian cuisines of the Far East, where it also boasts a long-standing medicinal tradition in Ayurvedic medicine. It is particularly used to treat various respiratory ailments and to combat malaria.
Basil essential oil, relatively non-toxic, has antidepressant, antiseptic, carminative, tonic, and expectorant properties.

Uses

Basil essential oil is used in soap making, cosmetics, high-end perfumery, and in the food industry as a flavoring.

Botany

Native to tropical Asia, basil arrived in Europe during the time of Alexander the Great. Today, it is widely cultivated throughout the Mediterranean region, the Pacific islands, and the Americas. It is a delicate annual herbaceous plant that grows up to sixty centimeters tall, with dark green, ovate, blistered leaves and pinkish-white flowers clustered in whorls.
