Extraction
Basil essential oil is obtained by steam distillation of the entire fresh flowering plant. It is a greenish liquid with a sweet, fresh, herbaceous scent with a spicy undertone.
Affinity
Basil essential oil harmonizes well with the essential oils of: Bergamot, Bucco, Citronella, Geranium, Hyssop, Litsea cubeba, Clary sage as well as with oakmoss absolute.
Property
Basil is a well-known "refreshing herb" popularly used in both Italian and French cuisines, as well as in Asian cuisines of the Far East, where it also boasts a long-standing medicinal tradition in Ayurvedic medicine. It is particularly used to treat various respiratory ailments and to combat malaria. Botany
