Grapefruit essential oil is obtained by cold pressing the fresh peel and appears as a clear liquid with a sweet, fresh citrus scent.

Properties

Grapefruit essential oil, completely non-toxic and non-irritating, is photosensitive and therefore subject to oxidation.
It is an effective remedy in the treatment of acne and oily skin, thanks to its toning properties; an excellent anti-inflammatory and antiseptic, like almost all essential oils extracted from citrus fruits, it is also a true natural antidepressant.
It blends well with the essential oils of bergamot, cardamom, cedar, cypress, geranium, lavender, lemon, neroli, palmarosa, ravensara, rosemary, verbena, and with spice oils.

Uses

Grapefruit essential oil is used as a fragrance component in perfumery, soap making, and detergents. The food industry often uses it as an ingredient in the preparation of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
The relevant technical and safety documentation for the product is available upon request.

Botany

Also known as "Pompemelmousse", the grapefruit is an evergreen tree native to tropical Asia and the West Indies, now grown primarily in California, Florida, Brazil, and Israel. It grows into a tree over ten meters tall, with shiny dark green leaves and large yellow fruit.
