Cypress essential oil is obtained by steam distillation of twigs and leaves. It appears as a clear, yellow-green liquid that emits a persistent, smoky, sweet, and balsamic scent.

Properties

Cypress essential oil, non-toxic and non-irritating, has antiseptic, hemostatic, deodorant, tonic, and vasoconstrictive properties.
It harmonizes well with the essential oils of ambrette, orange, bergamot, Moroccan chamomile, cardamom, cedar, cistus, juniper, marjoram, mandarin, frankincense, pine, clary sage, sandalwood, as well as with benzoin absolute.

Uses

Cypress essential oil is used in colognes, aftershaves, and perfumes. Less commonly, it is also used in pharmacies.
The relevant technical and safety documentation for the product is available upon request.

Botany

The cypress is a large conifer with a characteristic conical shape, native to the eastern Mediterranean and now growing wild throughout the Mediterranean basin and in England.
It can grow to over forty meters tall and has fissured bark, slender branches, and small, dark green, scale-like leaves. Many species of cypress grow worldwide; the highest-quality oil is extracted from the "sempervirens" variety.
