Cistus essential oil is obtained by steam distillation of leaves and twigs and appears as a viscous, orange-yellow liquid (which darkens as it ripens) with a warm, sweet, herbaceous-musky scent.
Property
Cistus essential oil is one of the first aromatic materials used in the ancient world for which we have reliable mention. Non-toxic and non-irritating, it has balsamic, tonic, antiseptic, and deodorant properties. Considered a powerful anti-snoring agent, this essence was once diffused in the bedroom.
It harmonizes well with the essential oils of bergamot, sweet calamus, Moroccan chamomile, cypress, juniper, frankincense, lavender, opoponax, patchouli, pine, clary sage, sandalwood, vetiver, as well as oakmoss absolute.

Uses
Cistus essential oil is now used both as a fragrance component and as a fixative in lotions, oriental perfumes, and aftershaves. It is also used in various processes in the food and beverage industries.
