NATURAL INCENSE FROM THE ETHIOPIAN PLAINS
Maydi frankincense is made from the hardened resin of a shrub of the Burseracea family, Boswellia frereana, which is noted for its surprising ability to thrive in the driest and most inhospitable locations, such as crevices on rock faces. Boswellia frereana is native to the rolling uplands on the border between Ethiopia and Somalia. Maydi frankincense yields an exquisite natural fragrance, and has been used for thousands of years in purification rites and traditional medicine. Finding it is no easy task, though, for the shrub from which it is obtained is usually only found in high, inaccessible mountain ridges.
The spicy, voluptuous vapours released when Maydi frankincense is burned offer a unique and extraordinary olfactory experience. |
