SWEET ORANGECitrus sinensis (Rutacee)
Origin: Italy (Sicily)
Originally from China, the sweet orange has adapted well to the Mediterranean climate and is extensively cultivated throughout this region. It's also grown in the United States.
The sweet orange tree is an evergreen that’s smaller and less resistant to disease than the bitter variety. It has a smooth trunk and branches, glossy dark green ovate leaves, long thorns and fragrant white flowers. The fruit has a sweet flesh and neutral membrane.
EXTRACTION OLFACTIVE AFFINITIES The essential oil is obtained by cold pressing the fresh peels, and is a clear, dark orange liquid with a sweet, fresh, fruity scent that combines well with the essential oils of Cinnamon, Clary sage, Clove, Lavender, Lemon, Neroli, Nutmeg, and Myrrh absolute.
PROPERTIES (according to popular herbalist tradition)
