LILY OF THE VALLEYPerfume
The Lili of the valley is a herbaceous plant that grows in mountainous regions of the northern hemisphere; it grows to a height of twenty centimetres. In Italy, it's found in shadier regions of the Alps and Apennines. It has large, long-stemmed, light green leaves, and elegant, fragrant, bell-shaped flowers that blossom in May. The fruit, a red berry, appears once the plant has shed its blossoms.
EXTRACTION
OLFACTIVE AFFINITIES
The leaves and flowers of Lily of the valley yield an essential oil that's extracted by solvents, followed by alcohol treatment and low-pressure distillation. It's a highly laborious process that few laboratories now perform.
Nearly all Lily of the valley oils, therefore, are reconstitutions.
PROPERTIES
Our Lily of the valley oil reproduces the pleasant odor of the flowering plant.
With its fresh, floral scent, it's used in cosmetics and in perfumes with a delicately floral note.
