LAVENDER IN FLOWERPerfume
Origin: France (Provence)
Originally found in the Mediterranean region, lavender is now grown all over the world. It is a woody perennial shrub that grows to a height of one metre, and is highly resistant to drastic changes in meteorological conditions. It has very narrow, linear leaves, light green with a fine covering of down, surface roots and blueish-violet flowers that grow on spikes at the tip of the stems. It's found at altitudes as high as 1,500 metres. The whole plant is highly aromatic.
The most highly prized essential oil is obtained from "Lavandula angustifolia".
EXTRACTION OLFACTIVE AFFINITIES The essential oil is obtained by steam distillation of the fresh flower heads. It is a colourless or yellowish liquid with a sweet, grassy, floral fragrance and a balmy, woody undertone. It combines well with most essential oils but especially those of African geranium, Citron, Clary sage, Clove, Labdanum, Patchouli, Sandalwood, Vetiver and citrus oil, floral oils and Oakmoss absolute.
