HEMPCannabacee (Cannabacee)
Origin: Italy
Also called "Canamo" or "Cannabis sativa" , it is a species native to the Himalayan regions that has been cultivated for millennia to obtain the well-known textile fibre. Currently the largest producers are China, North Korea, France, Italy, Poland, Romania and Hungary.
It is an aromatic herbaceous plant that grows up to five metres tall with palmate leaves with lanceolate tips and a toothed-serrated edge that can be up to ten centimetres long; the flowers, purple in colour, are arranged in clusters (male) and spikes (female).
It is widely used both as a narcotic and, in the medical field, as a tranquillizer and painkiller.
EXTRACTION OLFACTIVE AFFINITIES The essential oil is obtained by steam distillation of the leaves and flowers with a very small yield: only one millilitre is obtained per kilogram of fresh plant; it appears as a clear ochre-yellow liquid with a heady, herbaceous-fresh, "green" fragrance reminiscent of hay.
It blends well with the essential oils of: Norway spruce, Angelica, Dill, Buchu, Roman camomile, Elemi, Juniper, Lavender, Nutmeg, Black pepper and Clary sage.
NOTE: since the delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol ("THC") content in the Cannabis sativa essential oil that we distribute is less than 0.2% (as certified to us by the producer, who determines its titre from one batch to the next according to the method indicated in annex C of EC regulation n°1177/2000), it is compliant with the requirements envisaged by law n°2 of 2 December 2016 and is therefore an absolutely legal product.
PROPERTIES (according to popular herbalist tradition) Hemp essential oil (which should not be confused with the common vegetable oil obtained from the pressing of the plant's seeds) is a precious, completely nontoxic and nonirritating, medicinal distillate (one of the most effective). It has analgaesic, anxiolytic, anti-inflammatory as well as mildly narcotic properties.
Using a simple diffuser, we can benefit from its multiple action: it promotes the release of endorphins (the happiness hormones), it counteracts insomnia and stimulates the appetite.
As it is a rather expensive, scarcely available, raw material that has only recently come onto the market, its industrial use is limited at the moment. In spite of this, the well-known, natural active ingredients it contains are increasingly used in the medical sector.
Hemp essential oil is the main fragrance component in handcrafted themed soaps, perfumes and cosmetics. It is also used within given limits to prepare rather unusual foods and beverages.
