PURE BLACK STORAX BALSAM
THE RARE, PRIZED, AROMATIC BALSAM FROM ASIA MINOR.
Famous since ancient times, Black Storax is the precious, famous aromatic balsam native to Asia Minor. It is obtained from Liquidambar Orientalis (Hamamelidaceae), a tall plant which grows in the impenetrable Turkish Marmaris forests. Its production is still carried out using the original methods. After being vigorously struck the plant produces a thick pathological serum after a few weeks (resinoid storax, a famous perfume ingredient). This is subsequently removed in order to be mixed with the plant's bark (which has been previously ground). This mixture is then buried for several months. The resulting “fortunate” maceration gives rise to the highly fragrant Black Storax. This balsam has long been cherished and is either burnt together with incense or used as it is as an effective deodorant. Either way it will add a heady touch to the environment with its distinctive, sweet, amber, oriental smell. |
